In our future a new project
“Pet Therapy“
A form of therapy in which the communicative channel used and solicited is made by the immediate expression of emotions.
The agricultural company Cote di Mezzo, which makes innovation and diversification its main objectives, has decided to broaden its horizons and its activities also focusing on a social dimension.
It houses a Centre for Assisted Interventions with Animals (AIA), commonly known by the term Pet Therapy, a term that indicates the involvement of an animal for helping people, or with an educational purpose, in order to improve the communication and relationship of the user with the environment.
The Ministry of Health, with the approval of the National Guidelines for Assisted Interventions with Animals (AIA) in 2015, officially recognizes this activity in its objectives and in its value as a therapeutic, educational-formative or recreational-playful method.
The AIA are in fact divided into three macro-areas:
Assisted Activity
with animals
Interventions sharing the objective and the purpose of playing, having fun, highlighting the playful and recreational aspect and the correct interaction between man and animal.
Assisted Education
with animals
Educational interventions involving animals to promote, activate and support the resources and potential for growth, relationship and social inclusion of people in difficulty.
Assisted Therapy
with animals
Interventions with a therapeutic value aimed at the treatment of physical, neuro and psychomotor disorders, emotional or relational. They are addressed to subjects diagnosed with physical, psychological, sensory or multiple pathologies, of any origin.
Each AIA provides for the participation of several defined professionals and operators with specific training, dedicated to the individual aspects that constitute the intervention, such as the well-being of the person, the health of the animal, the coordination of the intervention of the operators involved, as well as the verification of the compliance of the intervention with predefined objectives.
In particular, the agricultural company Cote di Mezzo has already formed its team of experts for this type of intervention composed by a psychologist/ psychotherapist expert in AIA, a veterinary doctor expert in AIA and animal coajutors.
The company hosts 7 donkeys that act as a mediator in building the relationship with the user, and in achieving the specific objectives identified for each user.
Assisted Interventions with Animals are addressed to any person of any age and, therefore, the possibilities of intervention range within a vast context (schools, nursing homes, daycare centers, mental health centers, rehabilitation centers etc.)
